Janeal McKee, who has been with Southern Miss Gulf Coast since 1991, loves how her working environment gives her the greatest opportunity for conversation and to learn from knowledgeable people across an array of interests and disciplines.
“So far I have three small paintings of campus scenes that I see every day. Perhaps that’s the influence of having windows again.”
“I’ve learned so much!” said Janeal. “I’m truly grateful for the friendships formed in part from these conversations over the years. Some are life-long relationships, flourishing beyond our working environment. These friendships were instrumental in my recovery from Katrina and I will always be grateful for the care and support provided by these remarkable people. I consider myself very fortunate to have the friends I have found here.”
In addition to her love of conversation, Janeal also enjoys painting, reading, writing and spirited “kitchen table” poker games with friends. Recently moving to an office in the new Science Building, Janeal’s inspiration from the beauty of the Gulf Park campus has led her to explore landscape painting.
